PM Sheikh Hasina warns after attacks on Durga Puja pandals and temples in Bangladesh

In Bangladesh, a case of targeting religious places of Hindu minority community has come to light during Durga Puja celebrations. After this attack, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has strongly criticized. Sheikh Hasina has said in a warning tone that whoever is involved in this attack will not be spared. Sheikh Hasina said that it did not matter what religion they belonged to.

Sheikh Hasina attended the event at Dhakeshwari National Temple in Dhaka with the help of video conferencing. He said that the incident in Comilla district is being investigated. Whoever attacked Hindu temples and Durga Puja pandals, none of them will be spared. It does not matter what was the religion of these miscreants. The people behind these attacks are those who have failed to win the trust of the people.

According to reports, violence erupted over alleged insults to the Quran in a Facebook post, and several Durga Puja pandals were vandalized following which a large number of security forces have been deployed. Violence erupted in the area after a social media post related to rumors of alleged insults to the Quran at a puja pandal in Bangladesh’s Comilla district went viral, BDNews24 reported.

After this violence erupted in many areas including Habibganj in Chandpur, Banskhali in Chittagong, Pekua in Cox’s Bazar and Chapainwabganj in Shivganj and vandalized the pandals. There is also news of the death of three people in this violence. Bangladesh Hindu Unity Council has also tweeted in this matter. It was written in this tweet that ’13 October 2021, was a condemnable day in the history of Bangladesh. Many puja pavilions were vandalized on the occasion of idol immersion on the day of Ashtami. Hindus are now guarding the puja mandaps. Today the whole world is silent. May Maa Durga keep her blessings on all the Hindus of the world.

A local hospital in Chandpur, while talking to bdnews24, said that the three bodies that have come to their hospital may be victims of this violence. However, the police have not yet confirmed in this case whether these people died due to the riots caused by the miscreants or there is some other reason. In this case, Bangladesh Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said that those who carried out this incident in Comilla district would be caught soon. He said that instructions have been given to the administration that justice should be done in this matter at the earliest.
