West Bengal: Major train accident took place near Jalpaiguri in West Bengal

A major train accident took place near Jalpaiguri in West Bengal on Thursday evening. Bikaner Express (15633) derailed at Maingudi in the area. 5 passengers died in the accident and 40 injured have been admitted to nearby hospitals. This train was going from Bikaner in Rajasthan to Guwahati in Assam. NDRF teams and railway administration reached the spot and started rescue work. Along with this, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the families of those who died in the accident. At the same time, Rs 1 lakh will be given to the seriously injured and Rs 25 thousand to the passengers with minor injuries. Railway Board chairman has left for the spot. In these, about 850 passengers are being told from Rajasthan.Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the next of kin of the deceased in the train accident. The injured will be given Rs 1 lakh and those with minor injuries will be given Rs 25. At the same time, the helpline number – 01512208222 for the people of Bikaner and 01412725942 has been issued for the people of Jaipur. Through these numbers, information about the status of loved ones can be taken.

PM Modi took stock of the train accident from Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav. Also, the PM has talked to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in this regard.

At the same time, on the accident of Bikaner-Guwahati Express train, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has said that I am deeply hurt by the death of people in the horrific train accident in North Bengal today.
